Palace Day, 19 July 2021
For the 6th year in a row the Network of European Royal Residences invites its members, cultural and political institutions historic houses and their audiences to celebrate heritage on social media on 19th July 2021.
The global coronavirus crisis has had an unprecedented impact all over the world and has completely changed our ways of life, lifestyles and relationships to the world and to culture. With the closing of cultural venues and successive lockdowns, social media and digital activities have emerged as essential tools to continue to share our common heritage and maintain a link with the public.
For more than a year COVID-19 has emptied royal residences and museums of the visitors. This is why this sixth addition will be dedicated to the men and women who have contributed and contribute to bring to life these palace-museums, historic houses and cultural institutions. Palace Day 2021 wishes to virtually "re-populate" these places of culture!

The Palace Day has two major objectives:
- to promote cultural heritage
- to organise an event based on European and international cooperation.
Each year Palace Day reiterates its objectives and brings together more and more palaces and institutions on social networks to promote and celebrate a common cultural heritage. Cultural institutions (museums, palaces, cultural spaces, libraries et cetera) are invited to share pictures and tweets on social networks.
